MAGIC invites you to our very first St. Patrick’s Day celebration! Join us as we proudly welcome our friends from Midleton, Ireland, for a day of community, culture, and connection.
About the Event
McAlester’s inaugural St. Patrick’s Day Community Festival is a downtown cultural celebration highlighting Irish heritage, local businesses, community pride, and the emerging international connection between McAlester and Midleton, Ireland.
This family-friendly, walkable event will activate Choctaw Avenue with live performances, cultural programming, local vendors, and a parade — bringing together neighbors, visitors, and our friends from across the Atlantic.
The festival reflects the historic bond between the Choctaw Nation and the people of Ireland — a connection rooted in compassion that we’re honored to celebrate and build upon through MAGIC’s Sister City partnership.
What to Expect
Live Music
Squeeze Play — a two-accordion band — and additional musical performances celebrating Irish and community traditions.
Parade
A downtown parade along Choctaw Avenue led by a piper and grand marshal, featuring community groups, local organizations, and the visiting Irish delegation.
The parade follows the traditional downtown route along Choctaw Avenue — offering high visibility, strong business frontage, and easy access for spectators.

- 1:00 PM — Opening ceremony

- 2:30 – 3:30 PM — Squeeze Play performance
- Throughout — Vendor shopping, cultural exhibits, pot of gold giveaway entries

We’re honored to welcome visitors from Midleton, Ireland as part of MAGIC’s Sister City partnership initiative. This visit marks a milestone in the growing relationship between our two communities — a relationship rooted in the historic bond between the Choctaw Nation and the people of Ireland.
